Make no mistake about it, men are sick of ratchet. Ratchet is a term originating from urban culture to describe an uncouth female without regards to race or age. "Ratchet" has become more pervasive in our everyday lives to the point where the word can be heard on the radio, television or on the street.  Ratchet is the new dirty little word that has replaced the words "ghetto" or "hood-rat". As a result young ladies and women alike have fallen prey to what has been an unfortunate trend of undesirable behavior.

The television and radio shows have us fooled into believing ratings equal reality. Negative, the women on these shows are encouraged to create an entertaining environment to get more viewers to tune-in. I took a radio-television class in high school, and I understand that hours of footage are filmed to produce a few seconds or minutes of programming. Additionally, the editing of the film captures the tone, message and perspective you see in shows. As a result the networks are presenting all manner of vile imagery. There are drinks thrown in the faces of women. There are rants full of vulgar language. Women are emasculating men for sport. Blatant disrespect for other human beings proliferates the conversation. This is precisely why the ratchet's strong hold permeates every facet of over lives with intolerable madness. Ratchet is pure amusement.

The young, impressionable, young ladies are being programmed to believe the acting is a reflection of how women actually behave. The messaging further disrupts the family cycle by pitting husbands against wives, encouraging millennial women to opt into side chick status due to a male shortage, or promoting a single parent household as the social norm. This nonsense has penetrated our playgrounds, school cafeterias, high school homecomings, proms and classrooms as the preferred way of life. Girls are acting out by cyberbullying, conducting gang attacks on other girls, embracing sexting as a dating standard, or learning to acquiesce to the demands of men to stay relationship worthy. Boys are openly grabbing vaginas and demanding sex from girls in the most disturbing places like the school library, girls' bathroom and other sacred places. Worst of all the girls are obliging the guys because the girls have been led astray. Young ladies are trained to give away their bodies to strategically position themselves to earn the love and trust of men. Furthermore, the young ladies are misinformed about dressing in scantily clad attire to attract men. Misguided assumption, you are likely to attract creeps who are only interested in sex. Real talk, there are men eager for responsible, respectable women who can make a home for them and their families.

The truth is women can attract  men with their intelligence, with their smile or with their wit. (We do it effortlessly all day.) Men are visual and will pick the woman who initially meets his fancy then he explores more to evaluate her standing long-term. We are over-thinking our strategies ladies. Let's return to some useful principles taught by our grandparents and great grandparents like cooking, sewing, gardening, practicing proper etiquette, and grooming with dignity. Be gone with ratchet; ratchet is devouring our innate ability to create, identify, and maintain loving relationships. It is past due to reclaim our voices in relationships.

Find out how standards in a romantic relationship can make a difference in your love life.

I'm probably too lazy to be a wife, because I lack the will to iron two sets of clothing every morning or to deep-clean the house after a grueling day at the office.

I'm probably too lazy to be a wife who spends hours selecting and purchasing gifts for his family members who will find reasons to complain about the present or who tolerates my spouse's best friend's wife drunken rants about how her luxury lifestyle sinks.

I'm probably too lazy to be a wife who pleasures spouse when I really have a headache or who wants my man sweating on me for any amount of time, because I just want alone time with self.

I'm probably too lazy to be a wife who wakes an hour earlier than my start time to cook him a hot meal or who desires to shadow my mother-in law to learn how to "cook like his parent".

I'm probably too lazy to be a wife who practically raises the children alone when my spouse travels three weeks out of each month for work or who must drive the kids to all their activities, because my spouse is too busy to rear our children.

I'm probably too lazy to be a wife to give up my freedom of visiting both parents on holidays then ending evening line dancing at my favorite cousin's party or to spend Christmas cooking a 20 course-meal for his family who hates me.

I'm probably too lazy to be a wife to trade my ability to control 100% of my decisions negotiation-free or to agree with spouse spending thousands of dollars on his personal hobby that he rarely has time to enjoy.

I'm probably too lazy to be a wife who lives in misery, so I will wait in my beautifully, crafted life until a compatible man, who inspires me to be the wife he deserves, arrives.
